Team islo times got a
chance to interview the no doubt most talented DJ of Pakistan DJ Shahrukh. This
guy plays with the music and gives it a new energetic look/sound which is no
doubt speechless. He did a remix of a song by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab “HALKA HALKA SUROOR HAI” and that remix was a blast. He has also done
work with various artists including Ali Zafar, Faiza Mujahid and many more. Plus he is the first DJ to perform in other countries as-well. Heres what he say about himself:

Who inspired you to become a DJ?? Inspirations?
I saw some dj videos and raves of europe. One
person making so many people dance and go crazy. I wanted to have that control.

While becoming a DJ did your family supported
you ??
Yes, completely, in every way.

What else do you do except DJing?
I graduated from NCA
as graphic designer, but I'm also running a production house by the name
Medusa. Now i'm producing music videos, TVC etc..

How did you start DJing ?? What was your age
when you started mixing sounds ?

I
used to play at fashion shows and house parties on cassettes.
·
I
was 18 years old, college was just starting. When i got my first Pentium 2, I
found some software in a cd, acid and sound forge. it was very interesting to
manipulate with sounds. It was never possible before.

Who's
throwing the best parties at the moment?
In Pakistan, Verve events and FCCM are doing a good job.

What's the best event you've played at ???
There are so many, but i really enjoyed playing for the Australian
Ambassador's party in Islamabad. It
was massive

Was there any embarrassing moment when you were
DJing ??
Occasionally, electricity problems become embarrassing.

When was the first time you performed in front of
a large audience ??
At Chi Club, Dubai, in 2008.

What's your favourite tune of all time?
Domino Dancing - You are my sunshine

Funniest thing that ever happened at an event?
A girl was pretty drunk and i could see her coming at me slicing through
the crowd for some song request i guess. When she finally got real close, she
fell and passed out.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

play for the crowd. its my strength and weakness.

What do you think in Pakistan is there any scope
for DJ’s or electro music ??
Not at all.

Compare yourself and DJ Tiesto ??
There’s no comparison. His world is different.

How often do you DJ at parties??? Once a week or
daily ??
There can’t be daily parties here. Not even weekly. On average, once a
month. When its festive season, sometimes twice thrice a week even, but that
rarely happens.

Where do you see yourself in next few years ??
I'm working on a live act with the talented Faiza Mujahid. We have big
plans.

What are the major achievements you have got till
now??
I cursed a girl in my college publicly and got a warning letter. Besides
that, I'm the first dj from Pakistan to play in Dubai, Mauritius, India, Sri
Lanka etc...

I'm committed to my work.
