Instructor: Mahjabeen Atif graduate of NCA (2009) in fine arts (painting major).
Currently working at Lahore Grammar School Islamabad teaching O-Levels and A-Levels Arts and Design.
Course Duration: 3 weeks
Classes: Twice a week - Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Time: 4:30pm - 6:30pm

Workshop outline:
Calligraphy has arguably become the most venerated form of Islamic art because the Arabic script was the means of transmission of the Qur'an. The holy book of Islam, the Qur'an, has played an important role in the development and evolution of the Arabic language, and by extension, calligraphy in the Arabic alphabet. You will be learning a few styles on calligraphy like Nasta'liq and dewani. First we will practice the alphabets with ink andn kalam which I will bring for all students and then after two classes we will first working on canvas.
We will follow the new school of calligraphy, where there are no boundaries on the way on making a calligraphy painting. Alphabets over lapping and bold composition.
Material you have to bring to class:
Canvas 1 by 2 feet.
Reeves oil paints. 12 paints
Flat brushes(not round) size 2, 4, 8 and 12
Turpentine and linced oil
Palette.
