Founded: Late 2007
Tell us a bit about your band? Blackhour is an internationally recognized, heavy metal band from Islamabad, Pakistan. The founders of the band started Blackhour in 2007 with an aim of making music, not for commercial purposes but for creating awareness among the youth.
Currently the band comprises of five members. Hashim Mehmood, on the lead/rhythm guitars; Salman Afzal on the bass guitars; Mubbashir Sheikh (Mashoo) on the lead/rhythm guitars; Daim Mehmood on drums, and Tayyab Rehman on the vocals.
Blackhour, since its formation, has had the opportunity to play at a number of concerts and gigs all around Pakistan and has developed a reputed name and a growing fan base in the underground metal community in Pakistan.
However, Blackhour did not restrict its music to just the local scene. In late 2009, Blackhour started working on an original album and in 2011 the album “Age of War” was released in Pakistan, USA and Australia. The album has sold over a thousand copies and has captivated fans from all around the world including Germany, India, Brazil, Norway, Austria, and many others.
Soon after releasing the album, Blackhour has been featured on a lot of international radio shows, the latest one being on Wikimetal, one of the largest radio network for heavy metal music in Brazil.
What are your songs about? Blackhour’s music is all fun and games, a mix of yin-yang and basically the songs are about the things we fear!
Who are Blackhour’s inspirations? Blackhour has been inspired by bands like Iron maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Yngwie Malmsteen, Guns n Roses, Alice in Chains and others of the like.
How would you describe Blackhour’s sound? Powerful vocals and versatile guitar riffs combined with the drums and bass create a sound that makes Blackhour unique in how it adopts the classic rock and heavy
metal genre.
If you got a record deal at this second, would you accept it? Record Deal? Who’s looking for that when you have a mass of international fans playing your music out loud! Best performance yet? Every performance Views about Pakistani music industry? To put it nicely, it’s diversified, but really NO!
How much role does the sound editing software’s play in a final ready to listen song? The sound basically depends on the music you’re doing and in our opinion editing softwares are just a gimmick and for us it’s all about the live sound!
