JAPANESE INTERNET GAINT TAKES CONTROL OF VIBER

Viber an isreali mobile application company that offers free calls to and text messages to multiple users has be acquired by a Japan's biggest internet service provider company"Rakuten" by 900$ million this week.

Rakuten is headed by a Japanese Billionaire Hiroshi Mikatani who believe that e commerce will be used as a communication tool in the future.

Viber has almost 190billion users around the world. it launched an instant messaging app for personal computer that allows the user to make outgoing calls to others.

Marco founded Viber in collaboration with an isreali Comapny iMesh, on the largest media company in isreal.

In 2012, Rakuten acquire a kobo, on the largest and fastest growing ebook service and Wauki.tv, an innovative on demand video portal, thats why Rakuten believes that by acquiring Viber they can expand the business with gaming potential and paid sticker expand its current base of 225 million members.

Basically, Rakuten is a consumer shopping portal that connect japanese manufacturer to consumer in Japan and Abroad. They deal in Toys, electronics etc. They have about 27% of share in the Japanese Market according to December 2013.

The acquisition is being financed through bank borrowing and its expected to end in the March 2014 according to Rakuten's official press conference.
