I love flirting, I love music, I love playing
around …
But deep down inside there is a deeper calling to
talk about the ultimate truth, divine symmetries and the things that unite us
rather than the petty issues that divide us.
Q -- Is it necessary for an Rj/Vj to have good
taste in music?
Oh Absolutely! Even a regular person should. I
feel I don’t have much in common with someone who is not passionate about
music.
Q—Beside RJ, what do you do?
I am an activist for the ‘Ishq Ka Inqilab’
movement. I’d encourage everyone to become a part. You need no job to qualify,
no education, no savings of money, no investment, no nothing.
Only a choice, right now, between Fear &
Love. The eyes of fear wants you to put bigger locks on your doors,
buy guns, close yourselves off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one.
Plus I do corporate voiceovers, Soap dubbing and am a host
for concerts.
Q -- Did you always want to be an Rj?
I always wanted to be an astronomer
Q – How do you react when a caller has something
adverse to say about you?
It has never happened. I am good at what I do.
Q – Perky Tweets and taking songs request on
facebook and Twitter are the first ever examples of internet and radio
association. How do you think will the internet benefit the radio and vice
versa in the future?
Oh I think it will grow as a result. When Cinema
came, they thought no one will listen to radio anymore. When TV came, they
thought no one will go to the cinema anymore. When internet came, everyone
thought the radio, cinema, and TV would die! All mediums infact promote
eachother.
I firmly believe the internet connects us. Far
from the belief that parents have that
‘ Internet ne hi humaare bachon ko kharaab kiya
hua hai’.
It’s not like that. We are closer to eachother.
We can understand eachother’s perspective, whether its social, religious,
cultural, etc. There has been a rise in global consciousness and mankind is
evolving to its next stage because of the world wide web. I disagree with most
of the previous generation on this issue.
Q -- How challenging do you find being an Rj?
It is hard work. You have to sit and down and do
a lot of research. And because you are sitting down and working, you have to
find time to workout.
Given the situation of the country, it is
sometimes hard being in a right frame of mind for the show. What I do is avoid
news channels all together. I just get the news headlines from our news
department before a show.
As for fans and listeners, you can handle it if
you have the right attitude.
Q – Describe Pakistan in one word?

Q – Why did you get into the field of Radio
Jockey?
It was never my initiative. My mum forced me to
go give an audition when I was all rebellious and going through puberty.
Q – Your Passion in life?
Whatever I do, I do it passionately. Whether its
doing a show, listening to a song, talking to someone or making love. I feel
that is how life is meant to be lived.
Q – Define yourself in two words?
Kinda iridescent
Q – What is the mantra for a successful radio
jockey?
It has been said before. One just has to be real
and him/herself. And their ownself has to be pretty cool. And I don’t mean cool
as in baggy jeans with a CK underwear sticking out, I mean cool as in truly
awesome.
Plus one has to have interest in general
knowledge and history. You are speaking to all kinds of people simultaneously
and you have to be able to understand every perspective, if not agree with it.
The way I do it, I feel like my listeners are one
person. And when I am doing a show, I am sitting with that person in some café
and talking about life.
Q – Is it necessary for an RJ to be an energetic?
If yes then why???
Positive energy yes. I feel most of our society
is not a product of Love, rather a product of a mechanical process and social
pressures. They are the waking dead, sheep as Habib Jalib said. You and I are the
enlightened ones. And not on the basis of education or social status, but
rather on the basis of thinking and broad mindedness.
Life has so many colours. But some people want to
put it in right or wrong; black and white. That is not how it is. There are
many colours of every person and beyond that, many shades of every colour. So
we are infinite. It is about creativity and the dynamic human spirit that
refuses to submit.
Most
people cannot realize their full potential. I think if we can exude some of
that energy to a common person, we can make them one of us. Rather than being a
person who is digesting everything the TV tells them as the ultimate truth.

Q – What is your advice to someone who wants to
become a Radio Jockey?
Be yourself. Make calls to radio stations and get
in touch with people incharge. Turn up at offices and present yourself. It is
like any other field. It is not hard becoming an RJ it is hard succeeding in
the field. And again, that is like any other field.
Q – How new listeners/fan can catch you?
I post everything here personally
